One of the locals from Lubec, Maine. (+img)
We have tons of seals in the Passamaquoddy Bay area, mostly harbor seals with a few gray seals mixed in. They are fairly skittish as the local fishermen like to take shots at them since they do compete somewhat for the marine resources and raid the salmon cages when they can.
At late day high tides they congregate in the Lubec Channel to play in the 9 to 12 knot current. At low tide they tend to be found resting on the islands in the Head Harbour Passage. Someday I hope to try diving with them at low slack tide. Such dives go fairly well off Nova Scotia but here their skittishness may be a problem.
