The Best of Everything Gear Guide 2003: Dive Tools
October 19, 2006
Tighten, loosen, pick or pry--when you're on the go, you need a tool for the task at hand. Scuba tools sport Swiss army knife-style bodies into which are folded a bevy of wrenches and drivers designed specifically to keep you from being left high and dry when you're supposed to be diving. Multitools are more universal, providing tools for almost any need, on the dive boat or at home. Here are two of the best:

KERSHAW

Multitool with Tool Adapter

Everything but the kitchen sink. Eleven lock-open tools plus six adapter bits, all stainless steel. Knife blade can be opened with one hand and is accessible without opening the handle. Includes a nylon sheath. $119.95

TRIDENT

Traditional Scuba Tool

The original. Made from epoxy-coated steel, it offers 11 tools. Wrenches are divided two per end, making it easier to differentiate between the wrenches you need and the ones you don't. Available in black, blue, red, and a stainless steel version. $27
