What Camp CDE is

Spread over an intense weekend, the Commercial Diving Experience, aka Camp CDE, gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the exclusive underwater world of commercial diving.

Over the course of two days you’ll explore the basics of commercial diving. You’ll dive with surface supplied air and commercial diving equipment like the Kirby Morgan Superlight and Gorski 2000s dive helmets. The equipment you will use is industry standard so you will be diving with the same professional gear currently being used by commercial divers who work in the Gulf of Mexico. And you’ll get to perform light underwater construction.

Your instructors are former commercial and military divers experienced in search, salvage, inspection and saturation diving. They will guide you through the use of commercial dive equipment and supervise your dives. There is no need to worry about your safety.

Where it happens

Camp CDE is held at The Ocean Corporation, located in Houston, Texas. Their campus is one of the largest commercial diver training facilities in the world. This elaborate training complex located on a 4.2 acre campus includes a permanently installed medical decompression chamber, a portable decompression chamber, and a 400-foot rated wet lock-out diving bell system. Your dives will take place in an array of dive tanks.

What you need to do next

To participate in Camp CDE you must be a certified diver and at least 18 years of age. Proof of your current certification is required. If you have any physical limitations, just note them on your application.

The Commercial Diving Experience is a unique opportunity for divers to test their nerves, skills, and concentration in a life-like commercial dive setting. You can live to dive.
