Compact travel BCs are providing surprising levels of performance, while the fuller-feature BCs are light enough to be viable travel companions. While manufacturers have displayed lots of innovation in new travel-BC design, you can still fit only so much in a 5-pound bag. If you want all the bells and whistles, you’re not going to find that in a 4-pound BC that rolls up like a sweater. The trick is to find a balance between performance, amenities and compactness.
