Every year since it opened, Buddy Dive Resort has expanded its offerings—and when you consider the resort just celebrated its 40-year anniversary in 2021, it adds up that this waterfront diver’s paradise boasts a long list of what’s available, including Discover Scuba Diving experiences for those just trying the sport, Buddy Rangers courses for kids ages 5 and older, and Instructor Development Courses for those ready to earn a living underwater.

Buddy Dive is the complete package. For anyone looking for a tropical dive vacation, this resort delivers it all, starting with 72 rooms that are a mix of studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. With more than 100 trucks and cars in their rental fleet, Buddy Dive has plenty of inventory for its guests who want to take advantage of the island’s shore diving—the thing Bonaire is most famous for. The resort also offers two swimming pools, one of which has a swim-up bar. Guests have plenty of dining options on site, with daily specials such as Tuesday steak night, Thursday’s all-you-can-eat ribs and more.

When it comes to instruction, Buddy Dive Resort teaches every course you might expect in the tropics—and a few more, including technical diving. Anyone who has been to Bonaire, a place known for a gently-sloping shoreline, may be surprised that the island has the topography to cater to this course. It does. North on the island, near the edge of Washington Slagbaai National Park, lies the wreck of the Windjammer in 200 feet of water. Add in the drop-offs of Klein Bonaire, and tec divers have plenty to fill a week.

Buddy Dive is more than the resort: With three on-island dive centers, including one in downtown Kralendijk, all offering tank refills, daily guided dives, boat dives and more, it’s got you covered no matter how you choose to vacation on Bonaire.
