Big manta rays — some with wingspans reaching 18 feet — have big appetites. Although they can be spotted year-round, the profusion of plankton in the Maldives from June to November attracts plenty of these big boys in search of food, as well as a buff and polish at a cleaning station or two. Summers offer the warmest temperatures and the best visibility — up to 86 degrees and nearly 100 feet of crystal-clear waters.
