What to Look for in a Mask

Choose a volume. Either low volume, which is low profile and easier to clear, but can be slightly claustrophobic to some, or high volume, which typically makes for a bulkier mask, but may offer side windows and viewing ports to maximize the view.

Month after month, we take the dive industry's latest and greatest gear to task in laboratories and on remote reefs. We poke and prod, push and pull, disassemble and dissect. See the masks that earned the coveted Testers' Choice title in our annual Gear Guide.
