Performance:

A lot of features designed to work with the female form made the Selene II a very attractive BC to our test divers. The high-cut bladder allows for hip movement; the sternum strap is positioned high to avoid the bust line; the width of the shoulders can be adjusted to accommodate narrower upper body shapes; and thick, plush padding covers the lumbar/back and shoulder areas. All work together to make this BC very comfortable to wear and secure and stable at depth. The weight pouches are angled 20 degrees to make them easier to load and ditch. Test divers felt the cargo pockets were a bit bulky, but because they are set off to the side, the swimming position remained comfortable. The power inflator was deemed a favorite, providing both inflation and deflation control with soft-touch buttons. Test divers really liked the extra purge-assist button on the power inflator that allowed them to bleed air without having to pull on the corrugated hose.

Bottom Line:

A lot of female-specific attention to detail went into this BC. Combined with its across-the-board, better-than-average performance, the Selene II is a good choice for women.
