Kicking versatility through interchangeable blades is the name of the game with Cressi’s new Gara Modular free-diving fin. The standard blade is lightweight and provides a nice mix of power and flexibility. Additional blade options will soon be available to match a variety of kicking styles and power needs. The foot-pocket is made with soft rubber around the arch and rigid panels along the sides and sole to create both comfort and stability. Because you can separate the foot pocket from the blade, the Gara Modular makes a perfect traveling companion. It’s available in four foot-pocket sizes, can be worn either barefoot or with diving socks, and will accept other manufacturers’ blade inserts, including carbon blades. Bottom line: A comfortable foot pocket combined with an extra-long blade equals kicking power to spare for both scuba and apnea aficionados.
