The World's Newest Purpose-Sunk Wreck

On April 13, HMAS Adelaide joined the list of must-dive purpose-sunk wrecks amid fireworks, fanfare and a brief delay caused by a pod of dolphins. Located off Avoca Beach near Terrigal, in New South Wales, Australia, the 455-foot-long vessel — a Town class light cruiser of the Royal Australian Navy — is the world’s newest purpose-sunk wreck and a feather in the cap for a country with a strong history of sinking wrecks for divers.
