The Paranormal Is Not Afraid of Water

Underwater Paranormal

Divers all over the world have reported mysterious, paranormal incidents during dives. Some divers, however, don't just report it when it happens. Some actively seek the paranormal beneath the water's surface.

If you’ve seen any paranormal investigation show, like Ghost Hunters or Paranormal State, you’ve only gotten a glimpse at the topside of paranormal investigation.

The Deeper the Creepier

For years, divers, sailors and fishermen have reported strange, unexplainable occurrences at dive sites around the world. But some divers aren’t just stumbling upon appearing-and-disappearing divers, distorted cries for help or phantom touches — they are actively seeking them.

The TV show Destination Truth executed the first known paranormal investigative dive. The sensational show’s team traveled 7,000 miles to explore familiar Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon in Micronesia, a graveyard for the remnants of World War II. During the dive, host Josh Gates detects a human-like heat signature among the wreckage and hears mysterious sounds of an engine running. Exploring topside on Etten Island the team experiences more unexplained sights and sounds.

Something Fishy in Florida

Paranormal Divers, located in Florida, is one of the few known investigative groups focused on paranormal occurrences underwater. Led by Lee Ehrlich and made up of marine archaeology and forensic divisions, Paranormal Divers is passionate about uncovering paranormal activity. With each dive they start looking for evidence to confirm the origins of the wreck they’re looking at. Following that is the search for traces of human casualties.

“Taking the word of someone who is re-telling a re-told story just doesn’t seem the prudent thing to do,” the website explains.

According to their Facebook page, they’ve also tried to form a television show around their research into the unknown.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there’s no denying that there are some things in this world we don’t quite understand. Some believe these strange occurrences underwater or above the surface are residual energy left behind from a violent death. Some believe the gap between the living and the dead is narrower than we think. Either way, most of us love a good ghost story.
