The moray's pharyngeal jaw helps it swallow large prey. Once the eel locks on with its front jaw, it flexes specialized muscles that bring the second jaw forward to hold onto the prey. When the front teeth are released, the second jaw retracts deep into the eel's throat taking the tasty treat along with it.
