Thingvellir Lake, Silfra, Iceland: Snow and ice from glaciers 30 miles away is filtered through layers of rock before reaching Thingvellir valley. Here, absolutely pure water from 36 to 40 degrees F emerges from the ground and fills Silfra crack, creating a constant, mild current and amazing visibility as far as the eye can see.
