For the 22nd year in a row, our readers weighed in on their favorite dive sites around the world — from North America to the Caribbean and Atlantic to the Pacific and Indian Oceans — to bring our 2015 Top 100 Reader's Choice Awards to life.

For variety, we have selected one destination in each region (Caribbean and Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, and North America) to write about. No one can tell you the exact number of cave and cavern dives in Florida — the total lies somewhere in the hundreds, explaining why the region has once again nabbed first place as North America’s Best Cave, Cavern and Grotto destination. One of the most spectacular is this technically challenging dive in the breathtaking upstream section of the Indian Springs system. It’s a crystal-clear example of why dedicated cave divers are drawn to the subterranean side of the Sunshine State.

The cenotes of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula need no introduction, partly because so many are cavern dives that have been enjoyed by legions of divers not cave-trained. If you want a taste of where the big boys go for subterranean thrills — without the necessity of years of additional training — this is the place.

The Aloha State’s dive landscape is a magical one, birthed from the same fiery geological history that gave shape to these lovely islands. Lava flows are responsible for long, tubular swim-throughs that dot the region, providing an underwater playground for divers. Wind and waves have done their part too, creating many a nearshore grotto that’s a fish haven.
