Scuba App Review: RB Planner

App Reviews: RB Planner

RB Planner

Version: 1.1
Price: Free
Platform: iPhone, iPod & iPad

Description: RB Planner helps to calculate the total amount of air and tank size you and your buddy need to make a dive. It also calculates your “Rock Bottom” time in the event of an emergency, to get you and your buddy safely to the surface.

Pros: This diving app is very easy to use and utilizes conservative math. It also allows you to export your calculations via e-mail, Send to Printer, or Save for later use.

Cons: RB Planner only performs math based on imperial numbers, and it only allows you to plan a one- to two-stop dive. (After talking with the developer, a metric update to the app is expected by the end of the year.)

Bottom Line: RB Planner features more math than you’ll learn in your open-water class, and it's a great tool to use for predive planning. Lacking metric support (for now), some divers would have to perform manual conversions if they plan on using it.
