While not a major dive destination, St. Maarten does offer some sites for those eager to take the plunge and looking for wreck action. There are about a dozen sites with foundered ships, including the HMS Proselyte, a frigate that sank in 50 feet of water on the south side of the island the late 1900s. Visibility is great around Philipsburg where most of the sites are located, and there are several day trips to nearby Saba, St. Barths, and Anguilla if you want to include other islands on your dive vacation.
