200 years is the estimated age of the record-breaking shortraker rockfish caught by Henry Liebman off the coast of Sitka, Alaska. The 40-pound behemoth, which beats the former oldest fish by 25 years, is being tested by local Department of Fish and Game officials who will count the number of growth rings around the fish’s ear bone to determine its age.The record-breaking shortraker was taken from a depth of 900 feet. These fish generally live at depths between 900 and 1,300 feet.
