Members of the MaxAnimal crew were filming for their YouTube channel when they had a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a great white shark while riding in an inflatable raft. Yes, an inflatable raft.

Representatives from the MaxAnimal channel said that the shark was unprovoked when it took a bite out of the raft, and shark experts have commented that the great white was probably just curious as to what the boat was, according to a report by Daily Motion.

These sharks, listed as vulnerable by the World Wildlife Fund, typically aren't as aggressive as their reputation may suggest. In fact, within the past year only 10 humans have had fatal encounters with sharks, whereas humans have killed about 73 million sharks. The apex predators actually rank as one of the least-deadly animals on Earth, trailing behind critters such as tapeworms, dogs and snakes by a wide margin.

No sharks were harmed in the filming of this video. The raft, however, did sustain serious injuries.
