Video: ScubaLab Testers Choice Dive Computer — Oceanic VTX

The Oceanic VTX dive computer was rated best in its category by divers in the 2016 Dive Computer Review, so we added more details on the easy-to-use computer in the video below.

ScubaLab tested the Oceanic VTX and 10 other computers in this year's gear review, and the VTX was voted Testers Choice in the air-integrated, wrist-mount computer category. Our team of test divers gave it high scores because it's filled with features, easy to use and beautifully designed.

We tested the VTX at the University of Southern California's hyperbaric chamber on Catalina Island before test diving it underwater at Blue Grotto in Central Florida.

We put it through a series of carefully controlled, simulated dives alongside other computers to gauge how its decompression algorithm performed. We evaluated how easy it was to set up and use, how well we could read the screen in different conditions, and how it presented important information during our dives.

The vibrant full color LED screen is what grabs your eyes, but there's lots more to like about this dive computer. Loaded with features the VTX is loaded with features including air integration with up to four transmitters, dual algorithms, and a three-axis digital compass.

It's also one of the easiest computers to operate that we've ever used, thanks to a three button interface and thoroughly intuitive menus. The dive display is clear and uncluttered so you can see critical data at a glance, and prompts and alarms are easy to set and impossible to miss. The VTX has a simple auto-dim function to prolong the life of the battery, which is also user-replaceable.
