Indonesia’s Manuk Island is an active volcano in the middle of nowhere. It is one of the best spots to sight schooling hammerheads and tons of sea snakes. Volcanic gas emissions and underwater hot springs can be seen—we can even hear the volcano rumbling while diving. Barracudas, tons of jacks, spotted morays, scorpionfish, schooling hammerheads and big tunas can be seen on all dives. This is just a unique dive spot!

At Palau’s Ulong Channel, the dive starts at the entry of the channel, where you’ll use a reef hook and look at schooling sharks in the blue. After 10 to 15 minutes, we use the incoming current and “fly” through a long corridor with stunning fields of lettuce corals, eagle rays, sharks, giant clams covered by colorful soft corals and many more. I can do this stunning dive again and again without getting bored!

The Saba Marine Park is one of my favorite Caribbean diving destinations. On land, you can hike a dormant volcano and wander past the island’s charming red-roofed, white-walled houses. Underwater, dive sites like Diamond Rock, Third Encounter and Tent Reef offer healthy reefs, dramatic structures and curious, unfussed fish. Exploring Saba by liveaboard means you can dive all the best sites, plus watch the sunrise hit the island’s cliffs from the water while sipping your morning coffee. It’s absolutely breathtaking.

Keyhole Pinnacles is a diver’s dream. Towering spires rise like cathedral towers, draped in barrel sponges and alive with marine life— schooling jacks, trumpetfish and eels nestled in crevices, while creole wrasse and yellowtail snappers flash their vibrant colors in the distance. You might even spot delicate seahorses clinging to sea fans swaying with the currents or a cleverly camouflaged frogfish blending seamlessly with colorful coral. It feels like gliding through a living underwater masterpiece.

Belize is easy to get to, and just outside of Belize City, there’s an area where you can go cave tubing and zip-lining. I highly recommend both! If you have a few extra days, head down to Placencia for a beautiful, laid-back beach vacation.
