Don’t forget your light when diving at night in temperate and tropical waters where bigfin reef squid — Sepioteuthis lessoniana — are found. These eight-armed cephalopods are attracted to divers’ lights and produce iridescent metallic greens and reds when illuminated — and thus are a favorite of underwater photographers. This one was photographed in Papua New Guinea, but they’re found throughout the western Pacific and Indian oceans.
