Top 5 Worst Shark Movies of All Time

At Scuba Diving, we know that sharks are magnificent creatures that are more misunderstood than just about any other animal on the planet. So when it comes to the more dramatic representations of sharks throughout the years, we like to have a good laugh rather tremble at the thought of close encounters with these menacing creatures. Here are our picks for the Top 5 worst shark movies of all time.

  1. JURASSIC SHARK (2012): An oil company accidentally unleashes a prehistoric shark, which menaces a group of clothing-challenged and beer-chugging co-eds. Thankfully, this import from the Great White North clocks in at just 75 minutes, which is just enough time to drive to a Redbox, where you can rent a better shark movie. Any other shark movie.

THE LAST SHARK (1981): This Italian film, also known by the title Great White, is essentially the exact same movie as Jaws, except the name of the town is now Port Harbor instead of Amity Island. Universal Pictures managed to have it blocked from theaters in the U.S. on the grounds of plagiarism. Though "bad acting" would have been another acceptable legal argument.

  1. SHARKNADO (2013): Oh, it's campy and fun now. But there will come a time soon when we'll all blame the folks at cable's Syfy network for unleashing Ian Ziering and Tara Reid on us again.
  1. JAWS: THE REVENGE (1987): Rest in peace, Chief Brody. Now it's your widow's job to stamp out the shark threat on Amity. The great Michael Caine cashed a huge paycheck to appear in this dreadful movie, famously saying: "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
