If sea turtles could sing and dance, they might just bop along to the B-52’s founding member Kate Pierson’s solo song “Bring Your Arms.” Penned by Chris Braide and “Chandelier” singer Sia, the record’s executive producer, the song is the result of Pierson and Sia witnessing a sea turtle rescue in Mexico. Pierson and Sia watched people wrapping their arms around turtle eggs and moving them to safety. After releasing the solo track and video, the singer tweeted: “@THEKATEPIERSON stands up for sea turtles in ‘Bring Your Arms.’”

The video might be a bit cheesy (a fact that makes it even better) — it superimposes the red-haired singer with turtles and fish — but what’s not silly is the message. Pierson’s upbeat vocals implore listeners: “Bring some help/bring your arms” before the hatchlings-to-be end up “cut and carved.”

Guitars and Microphones was released in February, and a portion of album sales will be donated to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
