Guanaja: Classic Bay Islands Hospitality

Guanaja Island: The island of Guanaja (Isla de Guanaja) is 11 miles long and three and half miles wide at its widest point. It is located approximately 40 miles off the northern coast of Honduras, Central America and is part of the exotic archipelago of the Bay Islands (Isla de Bahia). The shoreline ranges from beautiful white sandy beaches to rocky, craggy cliffs overlooking the Caribbean.
Guanaja is the most mountainous of the Bay Islands with peaks reaching 1400 feet. There are no roads on the island and very little commercial or land development. The entire island is surrounded by a thriving coral reef and the local economy is entirely dependent upon the marine environment for commercial fishing and tourism.

Bayman Bay Club is a hillside resort that blends into the tropical forest that overlooks a placid Caribbean Sea. Wooded cabins built into the hillside insure privacy, as well as providing natural cooling and a beautiful view. A pristine beach, 2 dive boats and a dive center complete the picture of a perfect vacation.

Posada Del Sol**is a hacienda-style resort with red tile roof and Spanish architecture. A mansion rises out of the green jungle, providing a romantic environment. A patio, a swimming pool and an outdoor dining area compliment the picturesque setting. A stone pathway leads you past the tennis courts and picnic are to the dive shop and marina.

**Bayman Bay Club:

** The Bayman Bay Club rests at the edge of a sandy beach, nestled on 100 acres of private tropical hillside property that borders on national forest land and overlooks the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean. The beach front footage of 3300 feet includes 650 feet which is set aside as a private beach. Bayman Bay Club is a natural, unspoiled paradise only 800 miles from the United States. Gentle breezes, warm waters. A hideaway with spectacular sunsets, tropical breezes, and some of the finest diving in the world. The Club affords one excellent snorkeling from the beach and an extensive network of hiking trails in the hills and valleys behind the resort.
The key to the enjoyment of the Bayman Bay Club is simplicity. You'll spend your days in bathing suits and casual resortware. Pine covered mountains, coconut palms, sandy beaches and coral reefs have changed little over time. Time is one of Bayman Bay's most alluring qualities. Time to walk along the powder soft white sand beach. Time to explore mountain trails and coral reefs. Time to sit and enjoy the setting sun.
Main Lodge: The centerpiece of The Bayman Bay Club is the ''Clubhouse,'' the largest structure on the resort. This is the center of resort activity where guests gather for meals, shoot a game of pool, and socialize. There is a well-stocked bar, a library, a gameroom, and a spacious observation deck atop this four-tier structure.
Dining: The excellent meals at The Bayman Bay Club are served family style in the Clubhouse. A combination of mainland, continental and island cuisines comprise the board of fare, including a variety of local seafood and fresh-fruit delicacies. The resort serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at convenient hours. Meals are one of the social highlights of the day.

Guest Accomodations:** In keeping with its tropical surroundings, the Bayman Bay Club features wooden cabanas built on the hillsides surrounding the white sand beach and rocky shoreline of Isla de Guanaja. Each has an ocean view and has a spacious bedroom and private bathroom. Every cabana also has a private veranda with a spectacular view of the beautiful blue Caribbean and is within a short walk of the Club House. Cooled by ceiling fans and shaded by tropical trees, these guest houses are comfortable year round.
Guest Amenities: The Bayman Bay Club features a gift shop with local crafts and traditional tourist items. Other services include laundry, water taxi, phone and fax usage. Dive and Snorkel equipment rentals are available, as is instruction/certification in diving and snorkeling.
Boat Diving: Bayman Bay Club offers over thirty dazzling dive sites only minutes from the club, including the finest wreck dive in the Bay Islands-The Jado Trader. The two custom dive boats, the 37 foot Royal Sovereign and the 40 foot Nimitz,

transport underwater explorers in safety and comfort. Exceptional diving amid captivating reefs are a photographer's delight. As a protected national underwater park, the reefs surrounding Isla de Guanaja comprise a thriving marine environment with a great diversity of fish, invertebrates, sponges and, of course, spectacular hard and soft coral formations. Over 95% of the coral varieties in the Caribbean are found in this fringing reef system. Water clarity averages 85 to 125 feet. Currents are minimal as The Bayman Bay Club is located on the leeward side of the island.
Snorkeling & Shore Diving: Shore diving adventures begin in The Bayman Bay Club's own lagoon. Day and night, snorklers and divers are fascinated by the reef's living corals, colorful tropical fish and unique undersea formations. Several deep and wide channels cut through the reef. These channels are up to 200' deep and yet narrow enough to create exotic canyon diving.
Within 50 yards of the boat dock, Kitchen Reef offers excellent snorkeling. There are sea fan gardens and numerous patch reef formations easily accessible from shore. Or investigate the surrounding waters in a sea kayak- the perfect platform for an afternoon's exploration of the near shore reefs. Island Hiking: Explore the island's hiking trails amid mango, pine, and breadfruit trees. Verdant, jungle trails wind from the white sandy beaches to the tallest peak in all the Bay Islands. There are no roads or automobiles to spoil the tranquility of the landscape for the ardent trekker, nature enthusiast, bird watcher, and photographer.
**

Kayaking:** Bayman Bay Club offers a fleet of one and two-person sea kayaks for guest enjoyment. The Bayman Bay Club's theme of natural adventure is the introduction of our Sea Kayak program. The easily learned techniques of the sea kayak allow explorers to visit nearby sites for snorkeling as well as more traditional adventures. Less than a mile from the resort, visitors can explore the lush, rainforest environment of the Soldado River- near the beach where Columbus landed in 1504.
Mainland Tours: The Club offers side trips to the mainland of Honduras where you can visit a Banana Plantation, a Coffee Plantation or a Mahogany Factory; take city tours of San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, or Tegucigalpa; explore the intriguing Mayan Archeological Site of Copan, or take an exciting white water rafting trip down a class 4/5 tropical river cutting through lush forests and towering mountains.
