Blue Mind aims to reconnect people to water through the exploration of the cognitive, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual benefits of keeping it healthy.

This sixth-annual Blue Mind Summit gathers thought leaders, top neuroscientists, oceanographers, explorers, educators, psychologists, artists and sports enthusiasts to collaboratively consider the human connection to our water planet as well as the deeply personal and practical benefits of keeping it healthy.

This years' summit will speak to our profound emotional connection to water and how the interplay directly impacts our lives. Participants will dive deep into the exploration of our brain (and lives) on water while tackling subjects rarely discussed in the world of conservation: play, happiness, success, romance, freedom and peace.

Among the distinguished participants are Stanford neuroscientists, Nik Sawe and Kevin Weiner, Dr. Eris Heumer of Bravo TV’s LA Shrinks, South African big-wave surfer and Mavericks champion, Chris Bertish, MIIS economist Jason Scorse, and National Geographic Explorer, Tierney Thys. Details on each presenter as well as the full conference agenda can be found at bluemindcollective.com.

"Blue Mind is deepening the discussion on the true value of the blue economy and expanding the conversation to include the important ways access to healthy oceans and waterways makes all our lives better,” says Wallace J. Nichols, scientist and author of Blue Mind: The Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected and Better at What You Do.

The Blue Mind Summit is an annual convening of interdisciplinary professionals working at the intersection of brain science and conservation that has resulted in the New York Times best seller, Blue MInd. Topics covered at Blue Mind Six will appear in Dr. Nichols’ newest book, Deeper, a work currently in progress.

Sponsors of Blue Mind Six include: Journey Mexico, Smart Fin, Ocean Revolution, iResLab, SlowCoast, The Ocean Foundation, Peak Teams, The Lost Bird Project, Sustainable Surf, Harrington Design, Diane Talbert, Gloria Olimpio: Blue Mind Mediterranean Liaison, Anne Doubilet, Starke + Company and the Blue Mind Fund.

The Blue Mind Fund gathers support for and gives grants to those on the frontline of reconnecting people to water, sponsors the annual summit, and shares the Blue Mind message around the world. Partners include a growing list of projects, organizations, and individuals focused on at-risk youth, veterans, students, researchers, and others who value the role of water in support of healthy living.
