New Wreck In Thailand
A 112-foot steel ship recently became the newest dive site near Thailand's Racha Yai Island. Scuba Cat Diving oversaw the vessel's sinking during the nation's Loy Kratong celebration, which is observed by Thai families through the floating of symbolic boats called Kratongs. After sitting in a Phuket shipyard for the past 12 years, the new wreck was scuttled in 100 feet of water next to a former coral reef that was dynamited to rubble several years ago. Holes cut in the ship's bulkheads and deck provide safe swim-through opportunities, making the wreck an ideal spot for deep dives and Nitrox training. Barnacles and at least six species of fish, including low-light-loving squirrel fish, already have taken up residence in the wreck. or more information, send e-mail to [email protected].
