We love the Manatees and have learned to balance your desire to see the manatees with a respect for the animal, the laws, and the local environment.Manatee Tour Info:One of the most common questions is ''how many people do you take out''?First of all, there are about 5000 people a month who come to Citrus County during the busy season of late November to March. As you can see once you get out on the water, you will not be alone. Holidays and weekends are especially busy. Kings Bay is only 600 acres, or 2 1/2 miles in diameter, making it the largest concentration of manatees in the world. To offset the traffic, from November 15 to March 31 there are 7 sanctuaries covering over 40 acres of water that no one may enter. It is not the number of people who make or break a quality tour, but what time you go out, and how well supervised your tour is. In the winter we limit ourselves to three boats on the river. As the tours taper off in the spring we only take out two boats, and in the summer we will only have one operating. Our boat capacities are 12, 13, and 15 people. Manatees are curious and playful if you are quiet and let them initiate the interaction. We show a ''manatee manners'' video, give a thorough briefing, and get in the water to videotape and supervise your tour to insure the best opportunity for a personal manatee encounter forall.Manatee Snorkel Tours
