Ocean Frontiers

Ocean Frontiers made a clean sweep in this year’s Readers Choice survey, taking home first place in all seven categories.

The PADI Five Star Dive Center offers a menu of 55 dive sites on the East End of Grand Cayman, known for dramatic topography and ruggedness, as well as zero crowds. Think walls, pinnacles, canyons and arches where reef sharks, rays and, barracuda are all common sightings—and other dive boats are not.

From the moment you check in, Ocean Frontiers delivers what they call the “Green Shorts Service,” the ultimate in valet treatment. The dive staff clean, store and set up your gear daily, as well as make note of special preferences with regard to weights, boat seating and more. It’s about service and safety, but it’s also about a fun day diving.

This operator has invested $1.3 million in three brand-new 46-foot dive vessels, each with so much space that the staff brand it “business class” on board.

Every seat has more space, along with individual mask rinse buckets and gear storage crates.

The dive boats are also equipped with liveaboard-style dive ladders for an overall experience centered on ease and comfort.

Ocean Frontiers has also created a few extra opportunities for more experienced divers.

These experiences include the X-Dive, a dive to a secret location along the Cayman Trench for the greatest odds of seeing sharks and other big stuff.

The three-tank safari is another must-do, dropping in on the wildest and most remote sites, sure to thrill any well-traveled diver.

Compass Point

Compass Point Dive Resort, sharing the same East End beachfront as Ocean Frontiers, offers one-, two- and three-bedroom condominiums that let you conveniently roll out of bed and onto the dive boat. On site, you’ll find two pools: one with a 12-person hot tub attached, the other 9 feet deep and dedicated to diver training. Compass Point’s restaurant, Eagle Ray’s, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, all with oceanfront or poolside views. A full bar is also available. It’s everything guests need to rest, relax and recharge in between dive adventures.

2024 Readers Choice Awards

Ocean Frontiers won first place in all seven categories, including Quality of Rental Gear, Quality of Facilities and Best Overall. Compass Point won six awards, including first place in Quality of Staff and Best Overall.
