PADI Celebrates Inaugural PADI Women’s Dive Day

Courtesy PADIThe PADI Women's Dive Day brought together female divers from around the globe to share in their love of diving.
To celebrate women in diving, this year marked the first-ever PADI Women’s Dive Day. This international event encouraged female divers of all levels to dive together on July 18, 2015.
To bring the event to life, PADI collaborated with PADI Dive Shops from around the globe to host events on almost every continent. Kristin Valette, vice president of marketing and communications at PADI Americas said, “While the female diver population is growing, we feel there’s still a lot we can do to enlighten women about the myriad of opportunities diving affords. Our goal with PADI Women’s Dive Day was to highlight the significant and meaningful contributions female divers have made.”
Jen Clent, PADI Regional Manager for New Zealand added, “There was such an overwhelming response to this initiative as we celebrated all the amazing contributions of women in the diving industry. The PADI Women’s Dive Day events will help encourage even more women to explore the incredible underwater world.”
More than 300 events, in over 50 countries, and across all seven continents took place. While the focus of these events was on women and their accomplishments in the diving industry, everybody was encouraged to participate. Events were limited only by the imagination and ranged from wreck dives to DSD courses, BBQs and breakfasts, all to help celebrate Women’s Dive Day.
We thank all those involved who helped make PADI’s inaugural Women’s Dive Day such a success.
