Mike Ball's Spoilsport relocates to Cairns, Australia

In 2006, to facilitate the upgrade of Mike Ball's Cairns operation Spoilsport will be relocated from Townsville to Cairns. Spoilsport will continue the unique 7 night, 6 day dive package including Osprey Reef, the Cod Hole, the Cod Wall and northern sections of the Ribbon Reefs that Mike Ball introduced with his vessel Supersport in 1989. This itinerary was discontinued Xmas 1990 after cyclone Joy damaged key dive sites at Osprey Reef.

This new itinerary will provide a unique combination of liveaboard luxury, diver convenience and customer service to divers wishing to do 6 full days of diving zeroing in on the best sites available from Cairns. This service minimizes vessel travel in daylight hours and avoids the duplication of dive sites and wasted travel time back to Cairns. Divers can complete just the first or second half of the expeditions by utilizing Mike Ball's spectacular low-level reef flight transfer at Lizard Island.

Commencing the 16th March 2006 Spoilsport will depart Cairns Thursday evenings. Day 1 will provide superior diving on reefs adjacent to Cooktown. Day 2 will be at Osprey Reef at such sites as Fast Eddies, North Horn, Fairy Grotto and Pinnacle Pass. Day 3 includes the fabulous Cod Hole plus a late afternoon Lizard Island excursion retracing the footsteps of Captain Cook when he ascended Cook's Look to find an unobstructed passage through the Ribbon Reefs. Day 4 includes Challenger Bay and the Cod Wall. Day 5 and 6 sites are selected from Lighthouse Bommie, Pixie Pinnacle, Vertical Gardens, Rouge Reef, Andy's Postcard, Clam Beds, and Steve's Bommie.

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority's recent rezoning of the Cooktown management area affords protecting to all of the marine park areas visited by Spoilsport. This prevents fishing or collecting activities.

Spoilsport's Yongala Wreck and Coral Sea expeditions from Townsville will be postponed from February 20th 2006 until January 2008, we regret any inconvenience caused to prebooked passengers.
