Dive O' Clock Somewhere: Turks and Caicos

Beaches Turks and Caicos

Embrace the gorgeous island with the opening-air dining at Bayside, overlooking the Grace Bay Beach.

Beaches Turks and Caicos

All-inclusive means your alcohol and your diving are part of the package at Beaches Turks & Caicos — and you’d be wise to take full advantage of both. Located on the island of Providenciales, known to many as just “Provo,” Beaches offers access to some of the best diving in all of Turks and Caicos. After your day of underwater exploration is done, unwind during happy hour with a fresh cocktail at the resort’s Bayside Restaurant.

Happy Hour Dive Site: Graceland or Hole in the Wall

Why It’s an Editor’s Pick: Graceland is right in the backyard of the Beaches resort. When you enter the water, a large sand chute will lead you in the direction of a swim-through in the reef. On the other side, you’ll find a coral wall at about 50 feet that’s full of nooks and crannies that macro critters love to hide out in.

If swim-throughs are your thing, more advanced divers will love Hole in the Wall. It’s on the northwest side of Provo, so the boat ride to and from the Beaches resort will be slightly longer, but with the opportunity to watch the sun sink low over the brilliant turquoise waters of the Atlantic, you can sit back and enjoy that little bit of extra time on the water.

Signature Experience: When on the wall at Graceland, keep an eye out for the big stuff, too — reef sharks, barracuda and multiple species of grouper can be seen soaring by at any moment. At Hole in the Wall, drop from 55 feet to 95 feet through a narrow crack in the reef. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze — only one diver fits in the passageway at a time — but the view looking up from inside the crevice and the blue water that you’re submerged in at the other end is so worth it.

Watch the Sunset during Happy Hour at: Bayside Restaurant

Why It’s an Editor’s Pick: There are 15 different bars to choose from at Beaches Turks & Caicos — and they’re all included in the price of your stay — but when you’re in an exotic locale like the Caribbean, fully embrace the gorgeous island with an open-air dining option. Enjoy the night breeze and picturesque golden sunset from Bayside’s second-floor lounge, which overlooks the resort’s Grace Bay Beach. Plus, if you’re hungry for a post-dive meal, you can pick from international cuisines and signature seafood dishes like grilled lobster tail and yellowtail snapper.

Signature Drink: For a fun take on a classic cocktail, order a frozen mojito. It’s as refreshing and minty as it is tropical-looking, colored lime green and topped with a bright citrus wedge.
