Solomon BakshMaverick Shipwreck
From its mountainous peaks to its watery depths, Tobago is a Caribbean island experience unlike any other.
**1. PIGEON POINT **A picture-perfect beach along the southern coast, this stretch of white sand is a weekend favorite for locals and tourists alike.
**2. FINE DINING **No trip is complete without a sampling of local delicacies, like Crab and Dumplin, Benne Ball and roti — a mound of curried meat and potatoes eaten burrito-style.
**3. LONDON BRIDGE **The north hosts dozens of brilliant dives, but London Bridge, home to a narrow, 100-foot-long arch passable by only one diver at a time, is a true can’t-miss site.
**4. FORT KING GEORGE **A visit to this site not only gives you a look at Tobago’s colonial past, but it’s the island’s best vantage for a spectacular Caribbean sunset.
**5. JAPANESE GARDENS **This underrated dive features barrel sponges amid the sandy bottom, making it look like a massive underwater Japanese rock garden.
**6. JUNGLE BOOGIE **Get a guide, choose the length of your trail, and disappear into the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, the oldest in the Western Hemisphere.
**7. ARGYLE WATERFALL **Pack a swimsuit and a picnic lunch of roti and Carib for a visit to Tobago’s tallest waterfall.
**8. GET LOST **Provided you’re not afraid of heights, one of the best ways to appreciate Tobago’s mountainous terrain is to rent a car and just drive.
**9. LIFE IS FOR THE BIRDS **You might not be able to tell a blue-crowned motmot from a copperrumped hummingbird, but on this island with more than 200 colorful species, it won’t matter.
**10. MAVERICK WRECK **Arguably the south’s best site, this purpose-sunk shipwreck is packed with marine life in the holds.
