DUI Has New President / CEO

San Diego - Effective immediately, Susan Long has been appointed President and CEO of DUI. Susan has been Chief Operating Officer since March, 2001 managing all aspects of the company including sales, marketing and production. Having started with DUI building wetsuits at age 15 and in the front office at 17, she left DUI and worked for Marriott Hotels and Resorts for eight years as Director of Catering in San Diego, Anaheim, New Orleans and Washington D.C. Susan then traveled to Roatan, Honduras where she was General Manager of a small 14 cabin resort and 75-seat restaurant called Half Moon Bay Cabins for 14 months. Wanting to return to civilization and to DUI, she came back in 1995 working primarily in sales and marketing prior to becoming COO. As DUI celebrates it's 40th anniversary, Susan replaces her father in the true tradition with a continued dedication to quality, reputation and integrity to take DUI into the future. Dick Long, founder of DUI, is changing his role with the company as Market Development and Chairman of the Board. Though he claims he will be semi-retired, you will be able to see Dick at most of the DOG Rally & Demo Days events and dive shows talking with divers - one of his favorite things to do. Faith Ortins, with DUI since 1997, has been promoted to Vice President/Sales Manager, Sports Division. Faith has been instrumental in building the DUI DOG Rally & Demo Days into what is today drawing as many as 400 divers per day at one of DUI's 14 events in 2002. Because she was a dive store owner herself, Faith has an excellent understanding of what is important to a dive retailer. Though Faith has been responsible for all sport sales in North America for most of 2001-2002, she will now be responsible for sport sales worldwide. Quincy Morris has been promoted to the position of Export Sport Sales Manager. Quincy has been with DUI for more than 2½ years working primarily with dealers and divers in North America. This is an excellent opportunity for him to expand his talents into the International Market. Kristy Planas has joined our staff as Customer Service/Marketing. She is an active dive instructor and comes to DUI having been with a large Southern California dive retailer for seven years as a department manager. As her educational background is in advertising, she will be an additional asset to DUI's marketing efforts. Mike Radovan has been working in Customer Service for more than a year bringing many experiences having been a diver in Alaska for two years. Mike is also DUI's Key Person Program Facilitator working with active instructors, divemasters and key individuals. All of these individuals will be at the DEMA show in Las Vegas in October 2002 where DUI plans to unveil their new product line for 2003.
