An Ancient Egyptian City is Buried Under the Mediterranean Sea

For centuries it was the stuff of legend, said to be a city of extraordinary wealth that was buried under the Mediterranean Sea. Discovered 13 years ago, the site of the ancient Egyptian city of Thonis-Heracleion has yielded 64 shipwrecks, 16-foot-high statues and other items, revealing that the city was once a bustling trade hub from 664 B.C. until 332 B.C. The city is now the subject of a documentary, Egypt’s Sunken City/A Legend Is Revealed.
