Humanitarian and international disaster agencies have moved into the area, providing support to address the most urgent needs of people on the ground. But while the cleanup on land has begun, action is also taking shape beneath the waves, with an enormous debris-removal effort currently underway.

Big Blue Vanuatu, Dive Against Debris leader and Project AWARE partner, has deployed teams of professional divers in this major debris-removal project spanning 30 days. The Santo and Port Vila areas still offer world-class diving with coral reefs untouched by the storm. It’s business as usual in these areas, which is great news for local businesses and tourists. The scale of destruction in the Port Vila harbor, though, is a different story. Trained volunteers are currently tackling large-scale debris, including boats and yachts ripped apart by the cyclone.

Please help support marine debris removal actions in Vanuatu and across the globe. Your generous gift will support our Dive Against Debris program and directed actions to Vanuatu island areas most damaged by Cyclone Pam. With your support, we can help eliminate deadly trash that kills so many marine mammals, turtles, fish and seabirds and respond to ocean environments that need it most. By giving today, you'll provide an important boost to the efforts in Vanuatu as well as support other vital marine conservation efforts throughout the year.

Thank you for your support.
