Sheer walls of glaciers, bald eagles soaring in incredibly blue skies, and tail-slapping humpback whales — it’s no surprise that nature photographers flock to British Columbia, Canada’s westernmost province. These waters pulse with an abundance of life, including wolf eels, sculpins and red Irish lords. Brilliantly colored sea stars and crabs shelter in stands of bull kelp that thrive in the waters of Race Rocks and Queen Charlotte Strait. The peak season for diving in British Columbia starts in May, when viz can top out at 100 feet.
