Scuba App Review: Fish Phone

Fish Phone

Fish Phone

Version: 1.0
Price: Free
Platform: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad

Description: FishPhone gives you information about the sustainability of the seafood you’re eating, as well as the effects various types of seafood might have on you. This app also contains health advice on the seafood you may eat and come into contact with.

Pros: Very easy to use and has a few recipes for preparing different types of fish. The developers also went to great lengths to inform you about the health and benefits as well as downfalls of eating all the fish in their guide.

Cons: Something that immediately caught my eye was a large section on eating sharks: While I didn’t see any recipes for cooking shark, several wines were listed to pair with eating shark. There weren’t any recipes on how to prepare lionfish either (yet).

Bottom Line: The app developer states this is an app to help analyze and choose your seafood meals, but I didn’t find it to be overly informative. The app is very light on recipes as well. It does however offer plenty of information on what wines to pair with the meals, and detailed information on hundreds of fish that can be found on menus around the world.
