What It's Like to Dive the Nashua Navy Tug in Hawaii

The Nashua Navy Tug off Oahu, Hawaii, is an interesting wreck — it doubles as a recreational dive site and an active US Navy training location. The Navy Tug sits in approximately 65 feet of water and the wreck itself is about 109 feet long. Besides being full of marine life, you may also notice large (locked) storage bins sitting in the sand. These bins are used by the US Navy for various training exercises.

On this day as our dive ended and our Dive Oahu charter headed back to the marina, two navy ribs showed up with boats full of divers in rebreathers. Like something out of a movie. This is an interesting and surprisingly fun wreck to dive although charters do not run daily to the site. Make sure to call Dive Oahu and book in advance to make it out to this fantastic little wreck.
