New American Airlines Flight Set to Jet to Bonaire
Thanks to American Airlines' new route, it just got easier for divers to travel to Bonaire.
It’s not always easy getting to your favorite dive destination — some require multiple connecting flights, even from popular travel hubs.

But when the diving is worth it, you find a way to get there. Beginning June 9, American Airlines will add a new non-stop flight from Miami International Airport to Bonaire International (also known as Flamingo Airport). This is huge for the small Dutch-Caribbean island. Until now, the only other U.S.-based airlines flying to Bonaire were Delta and United Airlines.
According to Bonaire Tourism, the new flight will be offered weekly on Saturdays.
The American Airlines addition provides an exciting third option for U.S. divers eager to step foot on this popular dive hot spot. Besides more than 86 dive sites calling your name, Bonaire is also home to both a donkey sanctuary and flamingo sanctuary — not to mention the small uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire.
Bonaire consistently ranks as the World’s Best Shore Diving Destination year after year in Scuba Diving magazine's Readers Choice awards.
