What It's Like to Dive with the Coral Restoration Foundation

Get hands on with marine conservation when you go scuba diving with the Coral Restoration Foundation. Check out the video below and see what it was like when our editors joined CRF for a dive in Key Largo, Florida.

The Coral Restoration Foundation is a nonprofit ocean conservation group based in Key Largo, Florida, that focuses on restoring coral reefs through a combination of public education, scientific research and a rapidly expanding coral restoration program. Their restoration technique involves propagating corals in underwater nurseries — like the one you'll see in the above video — and then cementing the budding corals onto the wild reef. Volunteers are welcomed to join the CRF team in their conservation effort.

CRF has launched its coral nursery program to multiple countries including Bonaire, Grand Cayman and most recently, Curacao.

The Coral Restoration Foundation was recently awarded $2.1 million in funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to restore eight reefs along the Florida Reef Tract.
