Aqua Lung Titan Regulator Review: ScubaLab Testers Choice

ScubaLab's test team reviewed and evaluated the Aqua Lung Titan regulator in its latest scuba gear review.

ScubaLab measured regulators’ ability to deliver air at a range of depths and breathing rates on the breathing simulator at Dive Lab in Panama City Beach, Florida.

We also tested regs at Alexander Springs in Central Florida with a team of test divers who scored them in 14 categories including ease of breathing, dry operation and comfort.

On the breathing simulator, the Titan was the only reg in its category to collect excellent work of breathing scores across the gamut; in fact, it was still going strong even when we pushed it below 250 feet. Equally impressive in test divers, it took very good scores from testers for dryness and ease of breathing in all positions. “Quiet and smooth — real pleasure to use,” one tester commented.

The ergonomic Venturi control proved quite effective, managing to stop free-flows even while the reg was still face-up. The soft polyurethane cover gives the purge just the right amount of stiffness and can also be removed easily, without tools. “Almost forgot I had it in my mouth,” one tester remarked of the lightweight second stage. The compact first-stage has 2 HP and 4 LP ports in a T-shaped arrangement that allowed easy setup.

With a Herculean performance and impressive comfort, and overwhelmingly picked by test divers as a favorite, the Aqua Lung titan was our Testers Choice for regs under $500.
