The Shearwater Petrel is a rugged, full-function technical computer supporting open circuit and closed circuit diving. Divers can program up to five nitrox or tri-mix gasses for each. A vivid, full-color, hi-res LCD screen automatically adjusts brightness for optimal viewing and maximum battery life. The Petrel can be powered by any double-A battery, with up to 40 hours of dive time when using a typical alkaline. Users can choose between VPM-B or Buhlmann-based algorithms and a gauge mode is included. The Petrel’s intuitive menu system has a two-button interface and requires minimal button presses for important dive functions, like open-circuit bailout. Bluetooth allows wireless firmware updates and downloads from the computer’s one thousand-hour dive log. Free desktop software is provided.
