Jack’s Diving Locker, Kona’s longest-running dive shop (established in 1981), sits on the lee side of Hawaii’s largest island. The five volcanoes that comprise Hawaii Island shelter the Kona coastline from wind and surf, creating ideal diving conditions.

The shop’s vision to share Hawaii’s underwater world with “aloha” and a spirit of adventure has served it well. For decades, this family-run business has treated a loyal clientele with its motto: “Our Friendly People Make the Difference.”

Whether you book an adventure, further your training, or visit their well-stocked retail store, you’ll find the staff ready to help you. Jack’s Diving Locker is a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Dive Resort with four custom-built dive boats, a full line of rental gear, air or nitrox, a modern training facility and classrooms, on-site repair technicians, and a training pool.

The diving offered by Jack’s is truly special. Choose from classic or advanced two-tank morning boat trips, long-range adventures, night diving, or custom private tours.

Two top-rated night dives were pioneered here: Pelagic Magic and the Manta Night Dive. Pelagic Magic is a black-water dive in open ocean. Tethered to the boat and armed with a dive light, you’ll see zooplankton, miniature juvenile fish, hunting squid and more within inches of your mask.

The Manta Ray Night Dive is equally magical. Attracted to divers’ and snorkelers’ lights, the mantas swoop into feed and put on an amazing acrobatic display. The reefs and lava tubes boast species that are found nowhere else on Earth, such as Hawaiian monk seals, milletseed butterfly fish and Potter’s angelfish.

With more than 40 years of experience offering dive trips, quality scuba instruction and training at the professional level, there is no better dive shop in Kona.

Jack’s Diving Locker earned five awards in this year’s survey, ranking highly in Quality of Dive Boats and Quality of Facilities.
