You did it again. More than 300 of you submitted some 1,600 images to our 2008 photo contest--and wowed every person who works at the magazine. The judges had a tough time winnowing down the fi eld, but what sets these winning images apart from the rest of the submissions is that the photographers perfectly captured their subjects, often facing tricky conditions and technical challenges. This year, we asked all photographers to tell us in their own words how they got their shots. From the Grand Prize-winning shot of a drifting cuttlefi sh egg in Indonesia to winning images of a lemon shark about to devour a yellowtail snapper off Grand Bahama, a spinner dolphin pod in Hawaii and sockeye salmon on their annual run in British Columbia, we think the results will amaze you.
