ScubaLab Best Buy Dive Computers: Aqua Lung i200

The Aqua Lung i200 was a ScubaLab Best Buy during the 2017 dive computer test. Learn what our test divers liked about this wrist computer in this video review.

I’m Roger Roy, the ScubaLab director. We tested the Aqua Lung i200 dive computer. Compact, easy to read and simple to use, it was our Best Buy for dive computers.

We tested it at the University of Southern California Hyperbaric Chamber on Catalina Island. We also tested it in the field at Blue Grotto Dive Resort in Central Florida. We put it through a series of simulated dives alongside other computers to gauge the performance of its decompression algorithm. We evaluated how easy it was to set up and use, how well we could see the screen in different conditions, and how well it presented important data during our dive.

Though its screen is just 1 ¼ inch in diameter, the i200 is surprisingly easy to read because of the display’s bold characters and uncluttered layout. Test divers rated it very good for ease of reading both underwater and at the surface, even in bright sun; it also has a decent backlight.

The four-button control makes relatively quick work of setting the computer up and making dive adjustments, and air/nitrox changes are easy (although adjusting the PO2 level requires backtracking to another menu branch). It also has a good safety stop feature, which is adjustable for 3 or 5 minutes at 20, 15 or 10 feet. The i200’s deco warnings and other screen info are clear and simple, and the tissue loading and ascent graphs, which run up along the side of the screen, are quite visible.

With a user-replaceable battery, a clear, concise manual and a modest price, the i200 is our Best Buy for dive computers.
