All Star Liveaboards — Best in Class

Look up “all star” in the dictionary and you’ll find the following synonyms: excellent, remarkable, well-known, legendary, acclaimed, renowned, eminent. All Star is a fitting name for the fleet of liveaboards that has been taking guests on dive vacations for more than 40 years. The mission of the All Star Liveaboards team — whether working in the office, onboard as boat crew or underwater as a dive guide — is to give their diving and nondiving guests a memorable vacation.

Obviously, they have succeeded, as they collected 36 Scuba Diving Magazine Readers Choice Awards in 2022. Despite the challenges since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, one guiding principle has remained the same. Every member of All Star’s team is a scuba diver and has a passion for diving. They understand the unique desires and needs of their customers, and they truly feel privileged to be a part of their guests’ dive adventures. All Star liveaboards enjoy a high number of repeat guests, with many citing the friendly crew, comfortable boats, delicious meals and outstanding underwater experiences.

Bahamas: Aqua Cat, Cat Ppalu and Blackbeard’s Cruises’ Sea Explorer and Morning Star

The 102-foot luxury catamaran Aqua Cat is best of class for more reasons than we can count — it’s won numerous Readers Choice Awards from Scuba Diving readers — and 2022 was no exception. Aqua Cat won first place in seven Caribbean/Atlantic categories: Best Overall Liveaboard, Quality of Liveaboard, Quality of the Berths, Attention to Safety, Quality of the Food, Quality of the Staff and Level of Luxury. It added two Top 10 finishes for Quality of Rental Gear and Level of Value. The yacht, which offers itineraries that explore the Exuma Cays, has a 28-foot launch for nondiving excursions.

All Star’s Bahamas-based fleet includes the 65-foot sailing catamaran Cat Ppalu, and Blackbeard’s Cruises’ budget-friendly sailing sloops, Sea Explorer and Morning Star. Cat Ppalu won a prestigious first place Readers Choice Award for Level of Value and ranked in the Top 10 for Best Overall Liveaboard, Level of Luxury, Quality of Liveaboard, Quality of the Berths, Quality of the Rental Gear, Attention to Safety, Quality of the Food and Quality of the Staff. The yacht offers private dive vacation charters and takes 12 passengers in six cabins. For families, friends and groups that want a unique and intimate sailing, scuba diving and snorkel vacation, this yacht is a great choice.

The 65-foot sailing vessels Morning Star and Sea Explorer grabbed their own share of Top 10 rankings in the Readers Choice Awards: Its Level of Value award is no surprise, but these vessels also earned nods in several other categories: Best Overall Liveaboard, Quality of the Liveaboard, Quality of the Berths, Quality of Rental Gear, Attention to Safety, Quality of the Food and Quality of the Staff. Though it’s tight quarters on a Blackbeard’s cruise, the A/C keeps everything comfortable, the meals are delicious, and you’ll visit the same sites in the Exumas that Aqua Cat and Cat Ppalu visit.

And, oh, yes, did we mention the welcome massage?

There may be no area on earth richer in marine biodiversity than the Coral Triangle and these Indonesia itineraries are in the heart of it. Philippines: Infiniti

The 133-foot yacht Infiniti offers itineraries in three northern Coral Triangle hot spots: Tubbataha, Visayas and Bohol, and Malapascua and Leyte. The pristine coral reefs and thriving waters of the Philippines teem with as much diversity as Indonesia. Depending on the season and location, divers have the opportunity to encounter whale sharks, manta rays, thresher sharks and huge schools of fish. The steel-hulled Infiniti is the only RINA-certified — the most recognized standard of safety in the yachting world — dive liveaboard in the Philippines. It can comfortably handle all weather conditions, and it offers all the amenities that divers want for their stay at sea.
