Cave Training MexicoExplore the beauty of the underwater world.
Nowhere does experience matter more than in cave and cavern diving. In the Riviera Maya, the operator most focused on delivering a safe, expertly planned, scenic, and enjoyable experience is Cave Training Mexico. Each cavern and cave guide is a full cave instructor or an open water instructor with a cave diver certification, trained in every aspect of safety in overhead environments.
The first question the guides will ask is your level of experience, which allows them to suggest and select the best cenote for you to fully enjoy. Open Water–certified recreational divers have a range of options, including Garden of Eden, where tree roots reach down into a blue underworld, or Car Wash, where beams of light enter a wide room that houses bones, artifacts, and even a small crocodile.
Chac Mool and Chikin Ha are also excellent for first-time visitors, offering large areas where divers can explore, practice skills, and enjoy a variety of landscapes—from natural formations carved by water to rays of sunlight piercing the water.

For more advanced recreational and rebreather divers who demonstrate proficient buoyancy, the options expand to include The Pit, Angelita, Dos Ojos, Dream Gate, Tak Bi Ha, Tak Be Luum, and more. These cenotes are highly decorated, each with a distinctive mix of features. Angelita and The Pit, for instance, are legendary for their hydrogen sulfide layer, which appears as a whitish fog, evoking the underworld.
Whether divers are Open Water or Advanced, they benefit from longer dives with Cave Training Mexico. The general length of the cenote dives may differ from operator to operator depending on the guide experience, Cave Training Mexico typically offers 45 minutes or more, depending on air-consumption rates. Dives are planned according to the rule of thirds and the specific path divers need to follow, adjusting speed slightly to maximize both safety and enjoyment.

With every dive, the staff share not only their passion for cenote diving but also their knowledge of what makes each site unique. They have a deep love for their work and enjoy showing visitors the cenotes while helping them understand what these caverns and caves mean to the local Mayan people.
Cave Training Mexico also offers extensive cave diving instruction. Divers with 100 or more logged ocean dives and strong buoyancy control can take courses up to and including the Full Cave Diver level.
The entry-level progression is from Cavern Diving to Intro to Cave Diving. While industry minimum standards require two full days of training for each of these segments, Cave Training Mexico provides three days for each, giving students a stronger foundation for all subsequent training. Students can then progress to Full Cave Diver, a course that takes between four and five days, depending on student ability.
Cave Training MexicoLet us help you discover the beauty of the cenotes, and its mystery.
One of the most compelling reasons to train in Mexico is the environment. Cenotes remain consistently between 75° and 79°F (24°–26°C). By comparison, Florida caves average 72°F (22°C). In addition, Mexican cenotes lack strong currents, allowing divers to focus more easily on skill development.
Cave Training MexicoNever been in the cenotes? Don't worry! Alessandra Figari and Peter Broger work with new divers and swimmers, and clients of all ages.
Equally important are the instructors. Cave Training Mexico is owned and led by Alessandra Figari, who has been teaching full cave diving since 2007. Figari is an IANTD and TDI Full Cave Instructor as well as a RAID Cave 2 Instructor. She has co-authored two diving books and has been interviewed by international publications and blogs. In every interview, she emphasizes the importance of teaching students thoroughly, from A to Z—with fun, yes, but always stressing the essential role of a regulator in enabling humans to breathe underwater, and the need to remain constantly aware of one’s surroundings.
Beyond her professional teaching, Alessandra actively contributes to the local community. She has taught diving and EFR courses free of charge to locals, helping them enter the underwater world. She also sponsors a group of teenagers called Cenotes Urbanos, supporting them in speleological competitions, assisting in field exploration, and contributing to cenote mapping projects.
Her teaching philosophy is simple but demanding she expects every instructor to teach as she wished she had been taught. She and her staff take the time to explain why each skill matters and how it will be applied later. Her goal is to ensure that every student certified by Cave Training Mexico feels both comfortable and confident in the water. By prioritizing safety and proficiency, divers can then relax and truly enjoy the wonders of the underwater world within the cenotes.
