Incredible Scuba Diving Destinations That You've Never Heard Of

Stellar photography is the heart of Scuba Diving magazine, so we wanted to take one last look at the fabulous photos we published in 2014.

This past year, we've shown you some beautiful locales from all over the globe. And we've managed to narrow down some of the most secret spots of all. It wasn't easy, but each of these images encompasses a unique aspect of what we do here at Scuba Diving magazine and what we divers love about this blue planet — plus some inside information from our photographers on what they love about their secret-spot shots.

We hope you’ll enjoy this stroll down memory lane as much as we did creating it, and get ready for another year of epic diving and adventure — the best is yet to come.

SECRET SPOT // AUGUST

LOCATION: Bevagna, Italy

WHY I LOVE THE SHOT: “I arrived at this hidden gem after drift-diving in the Chidro River and walking through dense Mediterranean vegetation. The view from below is amazing — it’s as if you’re flying along a snowy mountain.”

SECRET SPOT // SEPT/OCT

LOCATION: Jupiter, Florida

WHY I LOVE THE SHOT: “While swimming through the water column between the surface and the reef below, we discovered this swarm of moon jellyfish drifting north in the
 Gulf Stream.”

SECRET SPOT // SEPT/OCT

WHY I LOVE THIS SHOT: “Every image has its own meaning ... and I always want to convey something about the animal that is true in the ocean, and then bring that story into a scene above the surface.”
