DUI Yukon II Drysuit: ScubaLab Best Buy

We tested the DUI Yukon II drysuit during the 2019 ScubaLab drysuit test.

With solid performance at an attractive price, it was our Best Buy for drysuits. We tested it at Devil's Den spring in Central Florida. We evaluated its fit, comfort and range of motion above and below the water, the comfort and effectiveness of neck and wrist seals, and how effectively it let us control trim, buoyancy and air movement in the suit. We also evaluated the effectiveness of inflation and exhaust valves, how streamlined the suit was in the water, and how easy it was to get on and off.

As part of DUI's "standard" line of suits available in fixed sizes, the Yukon II still boasts some extras, including replaceable seals at neck and wrists, a well-designed thigh cargo pocket, and comfortable fixed boots. But the suit's main feature is really its overall design and construction, with an attention to detail that you'd expect to come with a steeper price. Double-coated seams are meticulously taped and glued, and the trilaminate ripstop material has a rugged, durable feel; our suit still looked new after multiple dives in rocky conditions. The telescoping torso, and a cut with long inlays from waist to wrist that eliminate horizontal underarm seams, provided a comfortable, forgiving fit and very good range of motion. Controlling air movement throughout the dive was a cinch with the suit's streamlined trim and well-placed exhaust valve. The neoprene neck seal cover could have been longer (or even better, adjustable), and while the suit's fabric is tough, we'd still like reinforcing patches at the knees. With solid performance and high-quality design and construction at an attractive price, the Yukon II was our Best Buy for drysuits.
